Duty Free shopping is one of the best parts about being on vacation. These are retail shops that are exempt from charging local taxes on the basis that the items are sold to travelers taking them out of the country. A valid passport (and on occasion a return ticket) may be required in order to benefit from the tax exemption at check out.
That said, Jamaica offers some of the best duty free shopping in the Caribbean with shops and duty free malls all over the island but particularly in tourism hubs such as Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Negril and Kingston. There is also duty free shopping in the airports when departing the island. These shops sell everything from perfumes and handbags to luxury jewelry and watches.
